Name: Kohen Wiley

Age: 1

Date: June 14, 2026

Location: Senatonia, Mississippi

Agent: Senatobia Police officer Hunter Foster

Cause of Death: Gunfire

Kohen Kartier Wiley had only one short year of life before he was fatally shot by police in a Walmart parking lot in Senatobia, Mississippi.

On June 14, 2026, Senatobia Police and Tate County Sheriffs responded to a call of alleged shoplifting at Walmart. They approached Vellesia Wiley, her 1 year old son, Kohen, and her friend as they were leaving the store. In a video shared online by Wiley’s attorney, she offers her account of the incident, explaining that officers initially attempted to stop her friend, who was carrying a box of diapers, but that the group eventually got into their vehicle and started to drive away. As they backed up, they noticed officers running towards them with guns drawn. “I raised my baby up, trying to show them that he was in the car,” Wiley says in the video. “By the time I sat my baby down, it was like three to four shots.” Wiley was sitting in the passenger seat with her son on her lap. All of them were taken to the hospital, where only her son and her friend were found to have been shot. Kohen was pronounced dead upon arrival. Authorities claimed the shooting occurred when the suspects drove towards officers but all the bullets, with the exception of one, went through the passenger side window indicating that the officers where not in the direct path of the fleeing vehicle. Officials have identified Officer Hunter Foster as the one who discharged his weapon.

This incident took place in the same week it was announced that Elon Musk became the world’s first trillionaire, a status reached through billions of dollars worth of US government contracts among other things. This stands in stark contrast to the reality of working-class Americans like Wiley and her friend, who live in the poorest state in the country and were simply shopping for diapers, a necessity whose price has climbed even higher since Trump's second term began. Wiley claims that they did purchase the diapers but whether they did or not, does not justify the escalation of violence that lead to the killing of an innocent baby over property owned by a trillion dollar corporation.
